Children are encouraged to visit Maggie the therapy dog between 3:30 and 4 p.m. on Oct. 20 at the Norwood Public Library, 198 Summit St.
The program allows children to read aloud to the dogs in a calm, non-judgmental environment.
Children who have read to these docile therapy dogs have shown better focus, improved literary skills and increased self-confidence while reducing self-consciousness.
Therapy dogs Dalyla, Joshua and Harry join Maggie visiting the library several times each month on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
The library asks attendees to sign up 15 minutes prior to the start or in advance. More information on the program or the Norwood Public Library is available online at nplnj.org.
